Eight facts about me...

I have asthma and I just had my worst asthma attack this year. I attributed it from too much blogging.
I am deprived of sleep. Getting only fours hours of sleep everyday is way too much for me to handle. I've always felt groggy at work and I don't think I will be able to cope for long.
Because of sleep deprivation, my Prince is telling me to give up work and better stay home and blog. I am contemplating on it. It has its pros and cons and I am still trying to weigh everything. I only know one certain thing though: my HEALTH is my first priority.
How to lose weight has been a real struggle for me last year after the national elections in May. I got desperate I took a chinese pill. I ceased from taking it after my Prince warned me of possible effects later on. Good thing when I stopped, the pill already has its effects and I've indeed trimmed down a little ;-)
I am myopic. I have started using eyeglasses when I was in fourth year high school. I am not too comfortable with glasses but I prefer using it when I'm infront of my PC because my vision gets more accurate than contact lenses.
I was typically shut off from what's happening around the world lately. I haven't watched much TV, not even news, sigh! I couldn't find the time coz I prefer to spend my spare time doing oops and some other blogging chores.
I always have a hard time understanding Mummy Carol's accent (my Mahal's Mum). She speaks way too fast for my understanding, But I am slowly getting used to it. Speaking to her more frequently helps. Maybe we should stay on the phone for half an hour or so for me to really get used to her accent ;-)
I've just celebrated my 29th birthday. I am getting old but I feel like it's only yesterday when I turned 18, hahaha!

No Gimmicks
Let me be straight.
This is not the cute and smart Lainy always keeping you busy on this blog. She has been working all day long and is very tired. Probably snoring in bed right now (hehe hehe).

You are now in the company of the Naughty Uncle Che from AZ Blogging.

In case this is your first time here, or you never heard of the Lainy's Birthday Bash Contest, please read this post. It contains all information about the contest, including Mechanics, Prizes, and a list of all Officially Accepted entries. Though some entries really weren't qualified, Lainy was a little soft on the rules (acted like a mum :D) and considered everyone who made a "reasonable attempt".

Lainy has handed part of the job to me. I am proceeding as promised, randomizing on random.org's list randomizer to get the FOUR LUCKY WINNERS for this contest. The randomization is going to be something a little bit different from what you expect.

One good news. The consolidatory prize for all unlucky participants has been doubled. After the 4 lucky winners have been selected, the remaining 25 would each receive 200 credits instead of 100 as initially indicated.

Did I mention that Lainy has kept aside some special gifts for some very special people who really merit them?

Our New TV

My Prince sent me money last year just for me to be able to purchase a new television. The reason? So that I could watch my favorite basketball team play. I was very ecstatic with the purchase. We were on the look out for the best available in town before we decided on the one we've liked the most. My brother helped me out in choosing the best one. I got a little confused becase new models were out and all of them were all good. There were flat screens, LCDs, pop up tv and other similar types. We decided to be practical and settled for a 29 inch flat-screened type. I really enjoyed watching my team. They even came out to win the championship last conference. My Prince and I were very happy ;-)

I Am Proud to be A Blogger from Mindanao!

October 25, 2008 was a red-letter day for the 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit participants. Bloggers from the neighboring cities and municipalities like Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Iligan, Koronadal, Polomolok, Sultan Kudarat, Tacurong, Alabel, and even as far as Zamboanga hurdled long hours of travel just to make their presence felt in this most awaited event that convened bloggers altogether.

The activity is also part of the E-Business week of the Department of Trade and Industry in this part of the region where different competitions were lined up to promote the competencies of the Mindanaoans.

MINDANAO BLOGGERS SUMMIT

The Bloggers Summit carried the theme: Mindanawon Paminawon Intawon: Blogging the Mindanao Consciousness. Different bloggers from different niches were binded together by one commonality- we are all Mindanaoans who wants our voices to be heard not only here in our beloved country but in the whole wide world as well.

BLOGGING: A POWERFUL MEDIUM

Since blogging activity heightened in the last couple of years, it has become a very powerful medium and a force to reckon with in terms of providing information in the cyberspace. Unfortunately, our beloved Mindanao was portrayed by media in a bad light which makes it unjust and unfair. We are so misunderstood in many ways.

A MINDANAOAN AT HEART

As a Mindanaoan myself, I am saddened by the fact that people outside Mindanao can see an image of our place as the haven of bloody war, terrorism, corruption, scandals and poverty. Mindanao has been my home since birth and I have no other place to call my home but Mindanao and I say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I want no more of those bad publicities! I want people to realize that my home is a beautiful place and it is a home where peace resides, business opportunities abound, with wonderful seascapes to boast of, plus the fact that the vibrancy of its economy is sharing a big portion of the country's national revenue.

EMPOWERED BLOGGER

The summit was able to empower me in more ways than one. I was made to understand that I have a vital role to play in shaping hearts and minds of our readers. I have the power to correct the wrong notions about Mindanao. I can use this powerful medium in transforming Mindanao not only as the Land of Promise but the Land of Fulfillment.

As a Mindanaoan blogger, I am posed with this huge challenge. There is a sense of urgency for me to move and do my share. Now I am all the more convinced that I really need to blog about the beauty of Mindanao. Instead of blogging more about myself, me and I, blogging the Mindanao consciousness is blogging more about issues, events, concerns, and dreams.

MY CALL

Let us heed the call for Mindanao. To quote one of the speakers from the summit: "Let us blog about how we can build the "WE" among Mindanaoans and not just "THEM" and "US". Altogether, let us generate synergy out of the Mindanao consciousness.

GenSan is Scorching Hot

General Santos City is very hot and dusty. It is averaging about 30 degrees centigrade everyday. The scorching temperature always makes my head spinning. The temperature is not so good for asthma. I keep getting attacks and the need to turn on the aircon more often is necessary. But because of the skyrocketing electric bill when the aircon is used more often, we make do with the use of ceiling fans, sigh! I wish we have snow in the country, haha! Or even just an average temperature, not too hot, not too cold. Anyways, lately it has been always raining here in the city. The pouring rain is good for a lot of struggling farmers. It's very good for the agricultural economy as well.

The Biggest Surprise of My Life

I always go home for lunch to accomplish some of my blogging tasks. But lately, I haven't done anything concrete especially in accomplishing tasks before deadline. Today, there were two reviews that got cancelled. The abnormal sleeping habits I have for weeks now has greatly affected my stamina. I just go home to take a little nap and go back to work again. The never-ending blogging chores and the need to report for work day in and day out has sapped me all of my energy.

Today, upon arriving home, my brother informed me that there was something for me beside the computer table. When I had it checked, it was a gift box that is still unopened. I knew right then and there it was from my Prince ;-) He was very sneaky to have it forwarded in our home without spilling the beans for a week. It was a huge surprise because I thought he would let Meggy handcarry the gifts when she go home for vacation back here in the country.

I was moved to tears! I called up my Prince immediately and he told me he kept mum about it because he wanted the element of surprise to be there. In the afternoon, when I got home from work, I was able to speak with Mummy and thanked her for the beautiful gift she sent me. Last year, My Prince gave me a beautiful necklace with "I Love You" engraved in it. More than the material gifts, I have always been thankful for the Gift of His Love.

The advance birthday gift made me feel very special and loved by no less than the special persons in my life- Mummy Carol and My Prince.

I'll show you the gift box but I won't disclose what's inside it just yet, hehe ;-)

Learning New Things Everyday

I practically have no idea on the basics of driving and I don't think I could ever pass any exams relating to driving because I am visually impaired. There's so many things I would love to learn about vehicles and tire chains. I just got this information by surfing the world wide web. It does not help to have no knowledge about cars, trucks, tractors, trailers and other similar types of vehicles. There was a sense of urgency for me to make use of the available resources online (ask me why, hehe) and it helps greatly when the necessary information needed is just a few clicks away.

Well tire chains has something to do with trucks and it is being used generally for chaining the vehicles for they help assist for braking and reducing lateral sway by providing the most lateral sway control. This will eventually prevent the prevalence of accidents on the road. I just knew about this today and it really helps to have new knowledge everyday. I feel like I do not stagnate and I love it everytime I learn new thinggs. I just hope that I could get to learn driving in no time. It is one of the things I would so love to do.

What's Keeping Me Busy

As of late, I haven't been pretty much active with writing new stuffs across my blogs. It seems like procrastination and laziness took over for a couple of days now. I've always felt groggy and always wanting to go to sleep. My pillows always calls me at 9PM and it's so hard to resist. At 12midnight, I am wide awake and I can hear my blogs calling me, hahaha! I go back to lseep at 3AM. This rather abnormal sleeping habits has been making me drowsy at work.

My thoughts has been running berserk. There are a million and a hundred thousand things that's been working up in my head. These things are longing for attention but I can't seem to focus. Is this the feeling when one gets older? Hahaha! The birthday contest is keeping me excited and the EntreCard system's assurance of support is overwhelming.

I want to unravel everything in this post but time is lacking. It's 6:30 in the morning and I need to prepare for work. In due time, I will have to make a crucial decision. I don't have much time but I need to decide. It will affect my entire life but I know everything will fall into place.

National Bookstore Now Open In GenSan

With the advent of technology, the popularity of textbooks has gone down. People choose to read and get the information they need via the internet. It wasn't the case from way back. I could still vividly recall when I got hooked to getting hold of any kind of textbooks.

When I was in college, the university's provision of textbook allowance for scholars was a huge help. There was no need for me to worry on the purchase of expensive books. That was one of the privilege I enjoyed in school. Information was always very handy as long as one has the latest edition of books.

Here in General Santos City, the opening up of National Bookstore in June was very much appreciated by the city's constituents. Now students and textbook fanatics don't have to hurdle traveling three hours just to make a purchase of their fave books at the neighboring city, Davao.

Mindanawon Paminawon Intawon: Blogging the Mindanao Consciousness

Everyone is excited and enthusiastic for the 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit. With barely three days remaining before the grandest eyeball of bloggers which GenSan City will be hosting, almost everything is all set. The Local Government of General Santos City is giving its all out support for the event.

The occasion bears the theme: "Mindanawon Paminawon Intawon: Blogging the Mindanao Consciousness." The MBS2 Organizers and Volunteers are working incredibly hard to make this event a successful and a meaningful one.

How Online Trading Works

I never have any idea what online trading is. As the name implies, I could immediately relate it with financial investments and the like. I have learned that online trading is the purchase and selling of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Everything is done via the internet.

My co-worker's boyfriend is into this line of business. He is one of the big stockholders in Norway. He has his own broker by which has its own shop on the internet. The process of doing the trade is done electronically. The trader's "buy" order is matched up with a "sell" order and the trade takes place. Or, the trader can choose to sell a stock and it is matched up electronically with someone else's buy order. I still haven't learned how the entire business works but at least I have a little idea now.

Finding True Love

Featured BFF: Allena of In the Eyes of the Beholder

Everyone may not be too familiar of Allena as a blogger. She is basically a novice in the blogging world. In some ways, I can say I have somewhat influenced her to try out blogging and see for herself how it works. For everyone's information, Allena is my cousin. Her mother and my mother are sisters. So that makes the blood running in our veins the same, hehe!

When she took a month-long vacation here in GenSan, she was able to escape from the hassle and bustle of Metro Manila. She desperately needed it because she got really sick from overfatigue, not to mention the daily stresses and the pollution brought by the metro city which have caused her low immunity to illnesses.

When she stayed a few days here at home, she was a living witness how hooked I am in my blogging chores. Since I am very well aware of her potentials, I persistently urged and encouraged her to create a blog of her own. Through consistent proddings, she was able to write her first entry HERE. She was also able to help me write an opportunity at Social Spark. It's HERE.

My cousin is a well-rounded artist. She was once the female lead vocals of Kuerdas. She can also play the guitar and other musical instruments. She was able to jam with the band again during her short stay here. Apart from doing what she loves the most, she was able to make the most out of her vacation when we had our island get-away. She also made articles out of our escapades- The Samal Island Get-Away and The Zipline Experience.

I can tell she loves to blog. She can write a number of articles in just a matter of hours. While I was at work, she made use of her time by posting her own entries. I was surprised she was dropping cards from the popular blogs! And she even dropped to a maximum of 300! She really learned quick. Will that make me a good mentor now? Hehehe!

I knew she hated going back to Manila but the call of duty prevented her from staying with her family, friends and relatives. Before she bid goodbye, she was able to purchase her own domain. And now her blog is sporting the most unique design I have ever seen in the blogosphere! That makes me feel jealous, hahaha! That's to Allena's unique, creative and artistic imagination and of course, with Ivy of The Designer's Chic doing all the magical touches ;-)

Throbbing Headache and Stiffneck

To say that I am in pain is an understatement. I could hardly move my head. I practically move like a robot. The throbbing headache adds to my misery. The painful neck was triggered when I did some stretching early morning today. It was so sudden I was crying in pain. I still reported for work but the pain gave me hell.

I wonder if my posture while I am infront of my computer attributed to this misery of mine. Sometimes, I tend to forget that I have been seating here for a number of hours already. My shoulders are quite numb but I always forego the need to relax a bit. The call of nature has become a huge struggle as well. I always make the most out of my time while infront of the PC but I wouldn't want to sacrifice my health. It is still my top priority. I don't want to get sick ever again!

Miraculously, after attending church tonight, I felt renewed. My neck is quite OK but a little pain is still there. I think I'll get a good massage come weekend ;-)

She is the longest standing friend I have here in the blogosphere as we have been friends since we were in high school. I so much treasure our friendship. I was as thrilled when she gave birth to Arianna 2 weeks ago. After a day of giving birth, she was able to get back in full blogging form, isn't she amazing?

Marriage and Beyond

Jennie keeps me inspired by her articles majority of which talks about family, faith and how her family takes each day as a celebration. She is a super blogger to me because apart from juggling her own home, she has multiple lovely blogs under her care. I find it truly amazing! She exemplifies a person who blogs with so much passion. Her writing prowess has immensely motivated and inspired me to yearn in honing my writing skills.

Handy Oxygen Concentrator

The advent of technology has apparently made our lives easier and smoother. To my surprise and amazement, one can now breathe from a moving oxygen. The portable oxygen concentrator is a gadget that can be transported anywhere. This is best for those who are undergoing oxygen therapy. I just do not know if it works with people who have asthma like me. I have a nebulizer though which is very handy and it's the only thing that can relieve me of if I get asthma attacks.
